Some frequently asked questions to help you navigate the building process.

How do we request a quote from Cross Builders?

Complete the online form for an obligation free meeting to discuss your proposed renovation.

What information do you need to provide a quote?

The more information regarding the proposed project you can provide, the better. Our transparency around pricing is a key factor that differentiates Cross Builders from other construction companies. We provide all clients with a fully itemised quote for the proposed project. This shows each individual expense that will be incurred to complete the build so our clients have a true understanding of where their investment is going.

We will request:

- copies of concept drawings or architectural plans

- engineer's plans

- site survey plans or reports

- budget and timeframe expectations

- any inspiration images

We collaborate with our established network of trades throughout the quoting process to ensure that any financial estimates provided to a proposed client are as accurate as possible. We ensure that our quotes are reflective of all aspects of the build that will be required, even though sometimes these may not be specified on the plans provided but will be required for safety or certification purposes.

If you are unable to provide any of the information above, we can connect you with our trusted suppliers.

How long does the quoting process take?

This depends on a few factors including the level of detail provided in the proposed plans and also the complexity of the project. The majority of projects take between 3-6 weeks.

What will the quote include?

The communication undertaken in the very early stages of any project is a key predictor of how positive the process will be so we always ensure we take the necessary time to plan out the detail. We provide all our clients with a fully itemised quote in addition to a complete project timeline which specifies when each key milestone of the build will take place. It will also include a plan of any necessary 'next steps' to move the project from 'planning' to 'commencement' stage.

Our experience has shown that taking the time to provide this level of detail to our clients at the forefront of our engagement ensures both parties have a comprehensive understanding of the process to be undertaken to eliminate any 'surprises' experienced once the project has commenced.

Who oversees the build?

Our Director and Builder provides full oversight of each and every job. A site foreman is nominated for each project and is available onsite from day one until completion. This ensures our clients have a consistent and available member of the team to contact at any stage of the project.

How are unforeseen expenses managed?

There is risk with every build that an unforeseen expense may be incurred, particularly when renovating old residential dwellings. We explain what these potential costs may be in our initial meetings with our clients so that they are fully informed prior to signing a contract. Our pricing and quoting process also allows us to specifically identify any possible expense that may vary as the build progresses. If an unforeseen expense is identified, we will present the various options and associated costs to rectify the issue with the client to help them make an informed decision until the issue is fully resolved.

What insurances are in place?

We are a fully licenced builder with the Queensland Building and Construction Commission (QBCC), which is Queensland's statutory body established to regulate the building industry. We are required by the QBCC to meet strict minimum financial requirements to demonstrate that our business is financially sound and sustainable. This require ensures that we are not at risk of financial failure, liquidation or bankruptcy to provide reassurance for our clients.

We also hold necessary public liability insurance and ensure that both QBCC Home Warranty Insurance and QLeave fees are paid.
